DESCRIPTION

VACC Finland, Finnish Scenery Designers and Finnish Virtual Aviators' Association organizes a realistic and professional fly-in event for Helsinki-Vantaa Airport on Thursday, 16th June 2005. The event begins at 15.00 UTC and continues until late night, 00.00 UTC.

The event features a new and unique FISD Remote Controlled Scenery technology - first time in VATSIM history! The air traffic controllers will be able to control the stop-bar lights, approach lights and runway lights as they do in real world.

Another special feature of this event is that most of the ATC service is organized from CAVOK 2005, a virtual aviation live meeting at Jämijärvi, Finland.

FISD REMOTE CONTROLLED SCENERY

Dimming ALS 15Imagine that you will really see the stop-bar lights being switched off as the air traffic controller will give you a line-up clearance. Imagine that in case of bad weather, 100% high intensity lights will help you to see the runway through a thick cloud layers. When you come out from the cloud, you will just say "dim" and the controller will dim the runway and approach lights.

All things above are available first time in flight simulator history at Helsinki-Vantaa during No Delay 2005 event.

The technology requires that you will download the new version of Helsinki-Vantaa (EFHK) scenery. With the scenery package, there is a tiny module dll that should be installed to the Module folder of FS2004. Connect the RCS client module (appears to your FS2004's Module menu) to the RCS server and enjoy the interactive scenery!

If you fly with the old scenery or want to disable the RCS technology, you may just enjoy the high traffic volumes and professional air traffic control service. The scenery appears normally as any other scenery.

The new scenery will be available for download on Wednesday 15th June 2005! Please stay tuned! If you file your No Delay 2005 flights in advance to the Eurobook via VACC Finland's File FPL service, we will inform you about the scenery release by e-mail.

Download RCS Demo video (Windows Media Video 1,8 Mt)

The technology allows the controller to set lights only to active runways:

CHARTS

Real pilots don't fly without charts. Finnish Civil Aviation Administration provides the actual AIP charts on their website in PDF format:

EFHK AIP Charts

You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to open the files.

Please keep in mind that ground charts are important during heavy traffic volumes and especially during the closure of the main runway when temporary taxi restrictions apply (read more below).

EXTRA SUPPLEMENT

Due a construction work of the main runway 04R/22L, only two runways are in use.

Download AIP Supplement 09/2005 to read more about temporary restrictions and taxi routes due the WIP. Phase 2 is active during the fly-in! Download Third-party WIP Phase 2 -add-on (by Micke Nilsson, 9 kt) to add some barriers and machines to the scenery.

If you are not able to follow the published instructions, please advice the air traffic controller!

HOW TO OPERATE - GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

VACC Finland has published Pilot's Guide To EFHK that contains much useful information about operationg at Helsinki-Vantaa airport. It's recommended to read the guide before the event.
- Pilot's Guide To EFHK

In addition to general guidelines published in the Pilot's Guide, please concentrate on the following subjects for this event.

1. File your FPL in advance to the EUROBOOK flight booking system. This can be done days before the event. Keep your flights up-to-dated as we will forecast the traffic volumes, staff shifts and possible calculated take-off times with the pre-booked information.
- File Your Flight Plan

2. Not before two hours before your flight, prefile your flight plan to VATSIM. You can do it at VACC Finland website, your EUROBOOK pilot briefcase or at the VATSIM website direct. This will give us more tactical information about upcoming traffic flows.

3. Log in to VATSIM at least five minutes before you are requesting clearance. During this short time frame the actual flight strip will be automatically printed for the controllers and the traffic calculators will find you a good slot.

4. Runway 04R/22L and certain taxiways are closed due construction work in progress. Download AIC Supplement 09/2005 to read more. Download Third-party WIP Phase 2 -add-on (by Micke Nilsson, 9 kt) to add some barriers and machines to the scenery.
